Readiness 360

December 23, 2017

As I write this post, Christmas is almost upon us and the church is already making plans for the new year.  But before we move too quickly it is a good idea to reflect a bit on the One whose birthday we celebrate.

The ministry of Jesus was not about buildings and institutions. Jesus started a movement – a gospel movement – a movement that brought good news to people who really needed that good news; people like you and me and our neighbors.

For several months, we have been talking about doing an on-line survey – the Readiness 360 survey - because it is time for us to make the leap from simply maintaining what we have to reclaiming our part in a gospel movement.

Just before the 21st of January an e-mail will go out to all church members with a link to the survey.  We have the weeks of January 21st and January 28th to complete it.   If you do not have e-mail or a computer or you need assistance there will be computers and assistants available after worship those Sundays to help you complete the survey.

This survey will take a little time – 20 to 30 minutes – but it is important to have your input so that the leadership team here at Peace has accurate information for guiding us into the future.

Most of the survey is multiple choice but there will be two questions where you can express your personal hopes. These are very important for our future planning.  So you have some time to think about them, here they are:

1. What would you like Peace UCC to be known for in Shawano?

2. What do you believe God wants the members of Peace UCC to do now and in the future?

A recap – What does Readiness 360 measure?

Readiness 360 measures where we are so we can know how to get where we are going.  The survey will give us an insight into where we stand in four critical areas.

·         Spiritual Intensity.  Is our congregation driven by its passion for Christ?

·         Missional Alignment. Does our activity flow from our stated values?

·         Dynamic Relationships. How dynamic and healthy are our relationships both inside and outside our church?

·         Cultural Openness. Does our congregation exhibit a capacity for embracing people from diverse cultures?

Readiness 360 is a tool; a tool to help us change our story from church maintenance to Gospel movement.  It is about helping us shift in small but significant ways toward renewal and toward a future that is befitting the Christian gospel.

Your input is important.  Please take the survey.

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Marty and Your Church Council
